[ akira comes stalking into one of the cafe as Joonghyuk is cooking, casting a quick glance over once the smell hits his nostrils but opting to remain quiet. at least that's the plan, but after a few minutes of searching around the cafe he can be heard mumbling. ]

The hell do they keep the real spices...

[ Joonghyuk notices a new presence... And while his eyes are on the pan, his wolf daemon has its amber eyes on him. ]

Spice cabinets exist.

They don't have soy sauce. [ like what is he supposed to do with fennel and cloves?? the wolf daemon gets a look back, two of them actually, as the snake that's on akira's neck shifts to get a better view. ]

[malewife]

[ Actually... Joonghyuk is equally sad? About soy sauce? His shoulders sink because Akira has a point. ]

Umami flavor can be achieved... But. [ SaLT? SALT? God. ] We have garlic.

[ Garlic is good. ]

Wonder if that'll kill the vampire. [ nonchalantly, and don't mind as Akira steps a bit closer to see what exactly Joonghyuk has cooking. is there garlic! he's not an established enough cook to substitute on the fly too much, but he is curious. ]

[ Yes, there is garlic. It's some kind of... Fried rice? Or an attempt at fried rice. It smells heavenly at the very least. ]

Vampires from fiction, maybe. If this place were to have any demon underlings.

[ it smells good and looks just fine which is A+++ in Akira's book. he will gaze at it from afar cause like hell will he ask for any. ]

There's a vampire here, a blond one. Real chatty, but he said he's one of the "good ones".

... When you have to say you are one of the "good ones," it makes it more suspicious.

Well most vampires are just assholes. [ he's gonna rummage in the stores here to pluck out a bulb of garlic before he forgets. ]

I've never met a likable vampire, either.

There are some edibles in the fridge. Unspoiled.

[ walking over to the fridge and rummaging around, he pauses and sticks his head back out. ]

Who the hell would eat mold?

[ Fridge kind of stinky of being old fridge, but it is working and there is some not moldy or rotten ingredients inside? ]

[ he's probably seen worse tbh, that's not why his face is like this. ]

Guess he'll be the first casualty. He better not try to haunt us just cause he's an idiot.

... Ghosts exist where you are from?

Unfucking fortunately, yeah. Not the crap you read about in tabloids or on the internet, but people who died with a grudge and stick around.

Not the shit I want to believe in, but I've seen it whether you think I'm lying or not.

What reason would you have to lie? Attention?

[ Joonghyuk's tone implies he doesn't think Akira is the type. He would have approached him differently if he did. ]

... In these cases, I've read that ghosts would need to be relieved from their grudges. Is this correct for your world, too?

That's one I hear a lot, yeah.

[ but he appreciates the trust, though it's not voiced. ]

Yeah, you can purify them and help them move on. You can kill them too but there's a cost to it. Grudges aren't let go easy.

[malewife]

[ He trusts his own judgement of character. That makes sense. ]

... What is usually the cost?

A curse. If you think it's less fucked up than a plain life you're wrong, and it usually ends in death anyway.

No, but even we're I'm from they can differ between the spirit. Most of them can only haunt one place, but the strong ones can go wherever they want and bring people into their own dimensions.

It'll be hard to know what we're dealing with until we actually see one ourselves. Kids aren't the best at telling the truth. [ he has a niece and he loves her but she exaggerates a lot as kids do. ]
