When I finally made a decision for myself, to try and face my fear, I rejected its company and was sent to somewhere beyond the depths of Hell. I was falling... and wandering... for what felt like an eternity. Do you think I would have planned for something like that to happen?

Good endings were spoiled for me before all of this. But I'm not a fan of bad ones either.

I think that is a rather pragmatic approach, and honestly, the most realistic. Life is ambiguous, and so any story could end in the same way. After everything that we have experienced so far... It is the best we could hope for.

[ it just seems wrong to expect a happy ending. this isn't a fairy tale, people have died, some in truly gruesome ways - what kind of happy ending would there be, in light of those circumstances? middle of the road is always a safer bet. ]

Yes. I think it is foolish to wish for anything else. For the sake of others, I would like the best ending possible, but I don't know if it'll be a happy one.
